FEMA Annual Meeting brings Reforms

The FEMA annual meeting held on 30 January in Brussels delivered two fundamental reforms to the internal running of the Federation. |
Committee Members from all over Europe vote on FEMA reforms.
The first reform shifted the balance of power towards the National Organizations with fewer members. These organizations make up the majority of the Federation's membership. The minimum number of votes on the committee was raised from three to five, while the maximum number was reduced from 40 to 30.
The second reform saw the replacement of the Executive Committee with a Board of Directors, made up of four delegates plus the president. The Annual Meeting elected Theo Klossner, from IG Motorad, Morten Hansen, from NMCU, Chris Hodder, from the BMF and Maria Nordqvist from SMC as its first directors.
The four Directors will each take responsibility for an area of FEMA's activities, to assist the Secretariat in implementing the Committee's will.
The AGM re-elected Gerard Livett to serve as President for a further year.
At the meeting, the Federation adopted a position on the Environment recognising that motorcycling can adapt to minimise the contribution it makes to climate change.
Gerard Livett said, 'These reforms represent a significant change for the Federation. They will shift the weight of influence back to the Committee, and ultimately to our road riding members. I look forward to working with the Committee, the Board and the Secretariat to ensure that FEMA remains the authentic voice of motorcyclists in Europe.'
